Overview

The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of SCADA systems, providing critical monitoring and control solutions for our operations. This is a full-time, exempt position paid on a salary basis.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed design specifications, functional and technical requirements, and system architecture documents.
  • Implementation and Integration:
    • Implement and configure SCADA software and hardware components
    • Integrate SCADA systems with other industrial control systems (ICS) such as PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems
    • Conduct testing and validation for system performance and reliability
  • Maintenance and Support:
    • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for SCADA systems
    • Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA-related issues promptly
    • Perform regular system updates and backup
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with engineering, operations, and IT teams for seamless SCADA integration
    • Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers for system enhancements and support
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user manuals and system diagrams
    • Provide training and support to end-users and technical staff on SCADA operations
  • Compliance and Security:
    • Ensure SCADA systems comply with industry standards and regulations
    • Implement and maintain security measures to protect SCADA systems from cyber threats

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in SCADA system design, implementation, and support
  • Proficiency in SCADA software (e.g., FactoryTalk, VTSCADA, Wonderware, Ignition, GE iFIX)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., CIP, Modbus, OPC, DNP3)
  • Experience with PLC programming and HMI design
  • Familiarity with network architecture and cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel to various project sites within Texas
