The Engineering Technologist in the Water Resources sector supports engineers in the design and documentation of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This role focuses on translating preliminary concepts, sketches, and calculations into precise technical drawings using CAD software. The position requires close collaboration with engineers and project teams to prepare layouts, detail sheets, and as-built records for facilities such as pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, drainage systems, and other water resource structures. The Engineering Technologist ensures accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established design standards while maintaining organized electronic and non-electronic drawing archives.

Converts water resource design drawings from rough sketches to electronic CAD format for elements such as pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, storage tanks, drainage structures, and other water-related infrastructure, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other technical data.
Prepares final detailed drawings of simple water resources project elements (e.g., manholes, valve vaults, culverts, weirs) from sketches or marked-up prints.
Makes arithmetic computations using standard hydraulic and hydrologic formulas (e.g., slope, flow rate, velocity).
Assists with assembling and modifying standard water resource detail sheets (e.g., pipe bedding details, trench sections, drainage inlet structures).
Assists in preparing and updating non-electronic water resource drawings and as-built documentation.
Assists CAD Group Lead in archiving electronic and non-electronic water resource design drawings and related documentation.
